A Body That Works, created by Shira Hadad, Dror Mishani, and Shay Capon, deals with the emotional and dramatic relationship between a couple who opt for surrogacy, and their surrogate.
Ellie (Rotem Sela), is an established literary editor. After dozens of failed fertility treatments, Ellie and her partner, Ido (Yehuda Levi), turn to the only remaining option that will bring their dream of becoming parents to fruition – surrogacy.
Their surrogate is Hen (Gal Malka), a down on her luck single mother to a ten-year-old boy, whose choice to carry Ellie and Ido’s baby will put her on an emotional and physicalrollercoaster, that will threaten her close relationship with her son.
Another main character is Tomer Hemo (Lior Raz), a Golden Globe winning film director, who is currently working on his memoir, with Ellie serving as his editor. The two develop an unexpectedly intimate relationship, which puts Ellie and Ido’s marriage in jeopardy, moments before they are finally about to become parents.
