What is a Vort? ‘Vort’ in Yiddish means ‘word,’ implying a handshake and a “L’chaim” toast when closing a match, with the families announcing officially that a couple is to be married. The mothers break a plate with the names of the matched couple, and from that point, there’s almost no turning back…
